The idea of a “typical” career path is becoming harder and harder to define. This is especially so in the rural mountains of the West. Wherever you are at, we are here to help. Whether you want to hone skills you already have or learn completely new ones. The Adult Education Center wants to provide you with the tools you need to succeed at whatever phase of life you are in.

“I’ve lived in Cripple Creek, Colorado all my life. I would like to thank Denise Wilson and the CC-V School District for putting together the Adult Education Center with Annie Durham. It has had a great influence on me. I attended one of the gaming license presentations which encouraged me to move forward and apply for a gaming license class. I am now more informed on the gaming procedures and other information regarding the gaming industry. They also assisted with the whole application process. They set up the appointment, and they even paid for it. This was greatly appreciated as I am a single father working to support his daughter. It was a very informative class that did not take up more than a couple of hours of my day. For such a small town, we have a lot of resources available for people that need help obtaining a job or help with home life. I would like to thank everybody at the Adult Education Center as well as Denise Wilson and Annie Durham for all that they do for the community. I would like to give a special big shout-out to Denise Wilson for all her help and support.”

“I am a single mom living in Teller County. After the Cripple Creek Care Center closed its doors in June of 2022, I decided to advance my career and go back to school for a nursing degree. After I started my first semester, I ran into a problem with paying for some of my tuition. I went to the Aspen Mine Center for some guidance on how to pay for my balance and met with Denise, who is a part of the Adult Education Center. After talking with her and an interview with Annie, they were able to help me in paying the full balance of what I owed. I am truly grateful for this program, I wouldn’t have been able to continue going to school to earn my degree while paying this off by the next semester without the Adult Education Center’s support. I am currently passing my classes with A’s. I can’t thank Denise Wilson and Annie Durham enough. This program is truly a lifesaver and I recommend anyone who is interested in furthering their education to go talk to these ladies and get yourself headed on the path to success.”

In 2018, I completed my Masters of Social Work Degree with the goal of becoming a licensed clinical social worker. I spent two years trying to accomplish all of the requirements of the state. The last challenge was paying to take the Colorado State Licensing Exam which was $260.00. I was working as an intern and did not have the funding to pay for the exam. I was told to contact the Adult Education Center, and speak with Denise. The staff at the Adult Education Center was amazing. The intake process was simple and I was approved within a week. I scheduled a time to meet with Annie at the Adult Education Center location and she was so supportive and helpful. I was nervous about taking the exam, but Denise encouraged me. I Completed my exam on June 5th and got an 86%. If it was not for the staff at the Adult Education Center, I would not have been able to complete this lifelong goal of mine.
